AsantÇ PCI NDIS 2 Driver Installation for Windows for Workgroups 3.11
========================================================================
This document describes how to install AsantÇ PCI driver for Microsoft
Windows for Workgroups 3.11.
1. Start Windows for Workgroups.
2. From the Program Manager, double-click the "Network" group icon.
3. Double-click the "Network Setup" icon.
4. Click the "Networks..." button from the "Network Setup" window.
5. Select "Install Microsoft Windows Network" radio button.
6. Click the radio button for "No Additional network".
7. Click the OK button or press Enter to get back to "Network Setup" window
8. Click the "Drivers..." button.
9. Click the "Add Adapter..." button.
10. Select "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter" from the "Add Network
Adapter" window.
11. Click the OK button.
The "Install Driver" window appears.
12. Insert the AsantÇ PCI Adapter Driver Disk into drive A.
13. Type the following in the text box:
A:\WFW
The text A:\ may already be provided for you.
14. Click the OK button or press Enter.
The "Unlisted or Updated Network Adapter" window appears and
AsantÇPCI Ethernet Adapter is listed in the window.
15. Click the OK button to get back to the "Network Drivers" window.
16. Click the Close button to get back to "Network Setup" window.
17. Click the OK button to enter your User name, Workgroup and computer
name.
18. Click the OK button and Yes To All button on the Windows Setup window.
19. The Install Driver window reappears and asks you to insert Windows for
Workgroups disk 7 then Windows for Workgroups disk 8 and then AsantÇ PCI
Network Driver Disk.
20. A message window appears stating that Network Setup has modified
CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT and SYSTEM.INI files.
21. Click the OK button then Restart the computer.
NOTE:

This note describes how to select the Connection Type for the AsantÇNIC-PCI.
1. Open "Network" group icon
2. Open "Network Setup" icon
3. Select "Drivers..."
4. Select "Setup..." will come up with another window with 4 options:
* Max Receive Buffers : 12 (default)
* Max Transmit Buffers : 8 (default)
* SIA Mode : Autodetect (default) to automatically detect the Connection Type
The other 3 choices are: AUI (for AUI connector), TP (for
Twisted-Pair Half Duplex), TP_FUL_DUPLEX (for TP Full Duplex).
* Slot number : the PCI slot where the AsantÇ adapter is.
Below are sample files of CONFIG.SYS, AUTOEXEC.BAT, PROTOCOL.INI and SYSTEM.INI.

The driver name is ASANTPCI.COM and it is located on the Driver Disk in
directory \NETWARE\NW3.X\CLIENT. Besides the driver, you will also need
other files that are included on the Driver Disk.
a) LSL
b) IPXODI
c) NETX (use NETX for Netware 3.x or VLM for Netware 4.x)
Assuming that your Windows for Workgroups is installed in \WINDOWS directory.
1. At the DOS prompt, create a directory named NWCLIENT and two files named
NET.CFG and ODI.BAT (see below for sample files).
2. Copy LSL.COM, ASANTPCI.COM, IPXODI.COM, NETX.COM (or VLM.COM) and NET.CFG
to directory \NWCLIENT.
3. Run batch file ODI.BAT.
4. Start Windows for Workgroups.
5. Double-click the Network Group icon.
6. Double-click the Network Setup icon.
7. Click the Networks... button.
8. Select radio buttons Install Microsoft Windows Network and No Additional
Network, then click the OK button.
9. Click the Sharing button if you want to share your files and printers
(to do this you still need to run Print Manager).
10. Click the Drivers... button.
11. Click the Add Adapter button.
12. Select IPXODI Support Driver (Ethernet) from the list and click the OK button.
13. Click the Close button.
14. Click the OK button from the Network Setup window.
15. Click Yes To All button from the Windows Setup window.
16. The Install Drivers window appears and asks you to insert the Windows for
Workgroups disk 7 for NDIS.386 file into drive A. Then it asks you
to insert Windows for Workgroups disk 8 for MSODISUP.386 into drive A.
After which it asks you to insert the AsantÇ PCI Driver Disk into drive A.
17. Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
The Windows Setup window appears stating that it has modified NET.CFG,
AUTOEXEC.BAT, SYSTEM.INI and PROTOCOL.INI.
18. Click the OK button.
19. Restart the computer.
